The silver Kiddush cup of the Rosh Av Beis Din of Budapest Rabbi Yisroel Segal. Rare and special item, fit for a museum. With an engraved dedication, gift of the Chevras Chessed Ne’urim of Pest, [1808].

"לדורון דרשה להרב אב"ד דקהלתנו מו"ה ישראל סגל נ"י. מהחברה חסד נעורים פה פעסט ש"ק וירא בשנת תקס"ט. נעשה על ידי גבאים & קאנטראלאר ה"ב בענדיט אויר, ר’ נטע יידלס, ה"ב גרשון קרויז". Hallmarked silver cup from 1802 with a dedication from 1808. Pest. 

A rare item with an artistic engraving. The Jewish Museum of Budapest has another item, a silver charity box, that was ordered by the Chevra Kaddisha in those same years and made by the same silversmith. 

Silver cup, height: 7.5 cm. Maximal diameter: 6.5 cm. Two stamps, one of them noting the year 1802. The second stamp is of the famed silversmith who worked in these years in Budapest. The charity box of the Jewish Museum of Budapest has the same stamp. Engraved dedication and artistic ornate leaves. 

Rabbi Yisroel ben Rabbi Shlomo Segal [Wohrman] (passed away in 1826 – a disciple of Rabbi Elazar Kalir Av Beis Din of Rechnitz author of Or Chadash, Rabbi Meir Barabi Av Beis Din of Pressburg and Rabbi Zerach Eidlitz of Prague. Av Beis Din of Kerstir and since 1796, Av Beis Din of Pest. 

Scratches and minor dents. Good condition.
