Sefer Vayikra, with commentators, Haftarot, Shir Hashirim and Megilas Ester. Berlin, [1705]. Rare. The first edition of the Rashbam’s commentary on the Torah. Pedigreed copy that had belonged to a disciple of the Chasam Sofer, Rabbi Feiwel Plaut, Author of Sefer Likutei Chaver ben Chaim .

And with the Rashbam’s commentary that was published for the first time from a manuscript of Rabbi David Oppenheim’s library. With an ownership notation of Rabbi Feiwel Plaut Av Beis Din of Shuran. Rare. 

[1], 116 [i.e. 114]- 522; 73, [1], 33-59; [1] leaf. Some leaves at the beginning of the book are missing (chapters 1-3 of Vayikra). There are copies in which this volume is bound with the books of Bereshis and Shemos. On the back flyleaf: "This Chumash belongs to … Fabel Plaut…". An additional owner’s notation on the title page. With handwritten glosses and markings of the Aliyot LaTorah. 

Rabbi Chizkiya Feiwel Plaut  (1817-1894) began studying under the Chasam Sofer at his yeshiva in Pressburg in 1834 and one was of his greatest disciples. Since 1849, served as Rav in Shuran for approx. forty five years. Author of Sefer Likutei Chaver ben Chaim – 11 volumes containing the history of the Jews of Hungary and innovations, comments, Shut and eulogies for leading rabbis. 

Worn leather binding. Some leaves are missing from the beginning of the Chumash. Several detached and part;y detached leaves. Stains. Some moth holes. Fair-good condition.
