Rabbi Yehuda ben Rabbi Mano’ach Sid (passed away in 1815) – a leading disciple of Rabbi Reuven ben Yaakov Av Beis Din of Sofia, Bulgaria. In ca. 1809, immigrated to Eretz Yisroel and settled in Safed. Author of Ot Emet (Salonika, 1799) and Ner Mitzvah (two sections, Salonika, 1810-1811).

Rabbi Yaakov ben Rabbi David Yitzchak Antebi (1787-1847) was born in Haleb (Aleppo), Syria. Was a great Talmid Chacham in Nigleh and Nistar, receiving his Hora’ah Semicha in 1809. In 1840, during the events of the Damascus Affair, he was arrested and tortured. Following the efforts of Sir Moses Montefiore, the Rav was released in 1841 and settled in Jerusalem.
