Deed for sale of a place in the women’s section, handwritten and signed by the famous Gaon, the ‘Minor Pnei Yitzchak’, Rabbi Yitzchak Av Beit Din of Gaya – Gaya, Tammuz 1735.


Under the signature of the ‘Minor Pnei Yitzchak’ appear the signatures of five of the Dayanim and sextons of the community of Gaya.


The famous Gaon Rabbi Yitzchak son or Rabbi David (pre-1690-1741[?]) was a descendant of Rabbi Shalom Shachna of Lublin. He was a disciple of the ‘Smichat Chachamim’ and the ‘Panim Chadashot’. First officiated as Av Beit Din of Yanov, near Lemberg. During his time in Yanov he published his famous Sefer ‘Minor Pnei Yitzchak’ vol. I, (Amsterdam 1741) his Chiddushim on Shas. The Sefer is decorated with enthusiastic approbations from the leaders of the time. in 1745 he was appointed Av Beit Din of Gaya (Southern Moravia, Czech Republic).

This document was written and signed during his first year in Gaya.

[1] unlined paper. Age stains. Slight wear on margins. Puncture in center of text affecting 2 letters. Slight tears with no damage to text. Good condition.
