Responsa Shav Yaakov (two sections), authored by Rabbi Yaakov Popers Katz. Frankfurt am Main, [1742]. First edition, rare. Copy of Rabbi Moshe Halberstam the Rosh Yeshiva of Divrei Chaim-Tshkove. 

[1], 109, [1], 139 leaves. 33 cm. With the signature of Rabbi Shimon Weill and stamps of the Gaon Rabbi Moshe Halberstam the Rosh Yeshiva of Divrei Chaim-Tshkove. Mounted on the inside binding are German leaves from a book by Johann Gottfried Ludwig, Fortgesetzte Historische Chronik. 

Rabbi Yaakov Popers Katz (ca. 1670 – 1740) from the greatest Poskim. His Sefer Shav Yaakov is a fundamental responsa. Av Beis Din and Rosh Yeshiva in Frankfurt am Mein. Of his students in that Yeshiva were Rabbi Yosef Steinhart (author of responsa Zichron Yosef and Av Beis Din of fürth, from the giants of his generation), Rabbi Elchanan Ashlenazi author of ‘Sidrei Tahara’, and more. He made the Ramchal swear before a Beis din (on his way from Padowa to Amsterdam) that he will not reveal his writings in Kabbalah.

Rabbi Moshe Halberstam (1932-2006  ) – son of the Holy Rebbe of Tchakawa. Moreh Tzedek and a Dayan in the Beis Din of the Eidah Charedis. Rosh Mesivta in ‘Yeshivah Beis Tzvi’, succeeded his father as head of ‘Yeshiva Divrei Chaim – Tchakawa’ and author of Responsa Divrei Moshe. Guided and was Somech hundreds of Mori Hora’ah. Brother of the holy RRebbe, Rabbi Meir Halberstam, Admor of Tchakawa – Bnei Brak and the holy Rebbe Rabbi Naftali Halberstam, Admor of Tchakawa Jerusalem.
