Sefer Chochmat Shlomo. Amsterdam, 1791 – signatures of the brothers the Geonim Rabbi Yaakov Poppers Katz Av Beis Din of Frankfurt am Main, author of the Shav Yaakov, and his brother and disciple Rabbi Avraham Poppers Katz Av Beis Din of Teplitz

Signature (trimmed) on leaf 1a: "הק’ יעקב כץ… ".

On the leaf following the title page, a signature: "תתן אמת וחסד להק’ אברהם הכהן פאפרש".

On the title page, ownership notations of Rabbi Avraham Poppers and a signature of "שלמה פיורדא" [?].

The famed Gaon Rabbi Yaakov Poppers of Prague (passed away in 1740) Av Beis Din of Frankfurt am Main (who was succeeded as Rav of Frankfurt by the Pnei Yehoshua). His famed Responsa Shav Yaakov was published for the first time in Frankfurt in 1742. His Sefer is cited frequently in books by Poskim and especially, the Pitchei Teshuvah. 

His brother, the Gaon Rabbi Avraham Poppers Katz (passed away in 1745) was a leading disciple of the Gaon Rabbi Yonason Eibschitz and of his brother, the author of  the Shav Yaakov. Passed away young and was eulogized by his Rav Rabbi Yonason Eibschitz. 

[2], 136 leaves. 19 cm. A leaf for reinforcement is mounted on the title page. Good overall condition. Small tears and moth marks to several leaves. New leather binding.
